Sharon Gosun has been a student at the Philip Nearing School of Wing Chun since 2006. In addition to being a skilled practitioner of Wing Chun, she is also a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and trains with Professor Hannette Staack and her husband, Professor Andre “Negao” Terencio at Chicago’s Brazil 021. Since she began BJJ in 2008, Sharon has competed regularly in local, national and international tournaments and won numerous titles. In 2009 she won the World Novice Championship as a featherweight. She also won the featherweight and light featherweight class repeatedly at the Chicago Open as a blue belt and as a purple belt. Her most recent honour was taking a bronze medal at the World Championships of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a brown belt in the gallo division for adult females. Not only is Sharon an experienced and well rounded martial artist, she also brings to our staff an understanding of the problems women face when they begin studying a martial discipline as well as the unique problems women face in self defense situations.
