Wing Chun Technique of the Week #13

The 6th section of the Wing Chun wooden dummy form involves a front kick and a side kick to the knee. They are done in succession accompanied by a tan sao or a bong sao up top respectively. Essentially, this is a recovery technique for the Wing Chun practitioner should the initial front kick miss or be blocked. Should either of these two things occur, the practitioner can turn immediately to a side kick to the knee and either damage the knee or prevent the opponent from closing. In this case, the side kick was followed by a pak sao and a fak sao up top followed by a quarter turn and a punch to cover an exit from a different angle than when entering.
